C-BANDED KARYOTYPE OF LILIUM AMABILE PALIBIN

Abstract
|

|
The karyotype of Lilium amabile Palibin was analysed by means of C-banding
techinque.
Somatic chromosome numbers were found to be 2n=24, 2n=24+1B and 2n=24+2B which
consist of two pairs of submetacentric, ten pairs of subtelocentric, and one or two
subtelocentric supernumerary chromosomes. Three pairs of chromosome (a, f and g)
showed secondary constrictions.
Sixty bands were observed in 2n=24 + 2B chromosomes. The bands on the
chromosomes were distributed in the centromere, secondary constriction and intercalary
regions of arms. According to the banding patterns, each pair of chromosomes is
homologous excepting chromosome a and c pairs. Two B-chromosomes seem to be
homologous as far as the banding pattern is concerned.
